I‘m Belle, the crafty chick behind Flutterbelle Creations. I’m a mum to two adorable kidlets who keep me on my toes every day and make me smile every day too. I marvel at their untainted view on the world and their untamed imaginations and creativity. My 10 year old daughter has inherited my crafty obsession and often joins me in my creative zone.
Being creative for me is not just a hobby it really is a way of life! I am forever creating! It doesn’t matter whether I’ve got my mum hat on, my business hat or my craft hat on – I love to create.
When I was a teenager, my mum & Nana introduced me to counted cross stitch and I have created many beautiful pieces that hang proudly in my home. I have also lovingly stitched pieces for other people – Elvis for my brother is one of my favourite pieces.
Somewhere along the way, my cross stitch took a back seat and my paper craft obsession has taken over! I have a half finished chateau in my cupboard that I will get back to one day….
Back in high school, I created memory books along with my friends and this was our first attempt at scrapbooking. Everyone had a book of their own, and each friend took their turn in doing a few pages with personal info and handed it onto the next person on the list. I still have my memory books tucked away in a safe place and love looking back through them.
My card making passion started when I was so frustrated by the range of commercially available cards and their exorbitant prices. I used to look at them and say “I can make that!”. Not only could I make it, but I could personalise it for the recipient and make the occasion extra special.
I make cards for other people because I think everyone should feel loved on their special day. Handwritten greetings and card giving is not as popular as it was, but when someone receives something hand made and personalised for their specific occasion and colour theme, they want to keep it to remember the event. My aim when making cards is to make the recipient ‘feel’ amazing and loved when they open their card from their loved one. I love making people happy!
Back in 2011 I took the plunge and invested in my first electronic cutting machine – my Pazzles Inspiration Cutter. I wanted a machine that didn’t take cartridges, and I loved the idea of being able to create my own designs. I loved everything about what it could offer me in terms of flexibility and being able to make my own embellishments when I needed them was a huge drawcard. I’m still learning new skills with this machine and I use it for just about every project I create.
In 2014, I was honoured to be chosen as a new Design Team member for Pazzles who are based in the USA. I created over 40 projects for them in the two years I was on the team, and this has been the highlight of my creative life to date.
I will share my passions and projects here on my blog, and look forward to learning from fellow crafty people.
I hope you enjoy looking through my blog and that you will visit me on Facebook and share your experiences and knowledge. I am also on Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter.
